Ms Marina Ceyssac, High Commissioner for the Protection of Rights, Freedoms, and for Mediation, was invited for talks with the Economic, Social and Environmental Council on Friday by its President Ms Caroline Rougaignon-Vernin.
At the meeting, Ms Ceyssac updated the Council members on the High Commission’s activity, and discussed her institution’s remit and means of action, particularly in the international arena. The talks also focused on the issues of transparency, protection for the most vulnerable members of society, the right to be forgotten, and measures to combat discrimination in access to social rights.
The many areas of common ground identified showed how important it is for the institutions to compare notes as they fulfil their respective roles.
Ms Ceyssac and Ms Rougaignon-Vernin expressed their delight at the quality of the dialogue between their organisations, and indicated a willingness to continue working together in the future.
