The visit was part of the first thematic evaluation looking at the Principality’s implementation of the Istanbul Convention, following the baseline evaluation published in 2017. This new thematic evaluation round is entitled: “Building a climate of trust by delivering support, protection, and justice”. It focuses on a limited number of the Convention’s provisions, aiming for a more in-depth assessment of certain aspects of its implementation.
The GREVIO experts were keen to meet the High Commissioner for the Protection of Rights, Liberties, and for Mediation, Ms Marina Ceyssac, to discuss issues within her remit relating to the protection of women victims of violence.
During their visit, the GREVIO delegation met with officials from the state authorities, independent human rights bodies, providers of specialist services for women victims of violence, and representatives from civil society working in the field.
The GREVIO delegation included Ms Marie-Claude Hofner and Mr Guillaume Barbe, GREVIO members, and Ms Françoise Kempf, head of the secretariat of the Istanbul Convention monitoring mechanism.
