On Wednesday, 15 May 2024, the High Commissioner had the honour of chairing in her capacity of patron the closing plenary session of the 17th Youth Economic, Social and Environmental Council, in the CESE hemicycle, which was attended by Ms Caroline Rougagnon-Vernin, President of the CESE, the two Vice-Presidents, Ms Christine Giliotti and Mr Michel Gramaglia, Ms Delphine Constantini, Representative of the Commissioner-General for the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, head teachers and directors from the Principality's three high schools, academic advisors and, of course, the young volunteer students who have taken part in this initiative to present, discuss and vote on their proposals.
This year, almost 40 young high school students met with public and private stakeholders to develop the following four highly successful and relevant projects, which were unanimously approved:
- A project to introduce parapharmaceutical dispensers in the Principality.
- A project to create a "Monaco Youth" app for students and retailers in the Principality.
- A project to implement an awareness-raising campaign on the Highway Code at high schools in the Principality.
- A project to establish a Monaco Students' Association.
The High Commissioner was delighted to see that the young members of society had ensured their projects fully reflected the ethos of inclusivity and respect for rights, which underpin the High Commissioner's work.
These proposals will undoubtedly be positively received by the CESE's Senior Assembly and by the authorities. The High Commissioner will continue to listen and lend its support in implementing all initiatives that fall within its remit.
